Swachhata Shramdan & Natural Farming: The Gujarat government has taken a major decision to boost two important campaigns in the state – ‘Cleanliness’ and ‘Natural Agriculture’. Spokesperson Minister Jitubhai Vaghani giving details of the cabinet meeting said that Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel wants to strengthen the culture of cleanliness in the state.
What are the key decisions?
Swachhta Shramdaan: Now there is a call for at least one hour ‘Swachta Shramdaan’ on the first Sunday of every month. All citizens, public representatives and voluntary organizations are urged to join in this.
Cleaning in Government Offices: All the government departments of the state will conduct continuous cleaning campaign in their offices.
Organic Farm Produce Sales Centres: The process of setting up special ‘Sales Centres’ at all the metros, municipalities and taluk levels of the state is in motion to ensure that organic farming farmers get fair value for their produce.
The Chief Minister has directed the Chief Secretary to hold a high-level meeting with the District Collectors and Commissioners of the Municipal Corporation and set up these sales centers immediately. Through these measures, the state government is determined to increase the income of farmers by promoting chemical-free farming.
