Statewide launch of “Namo Swachhta Abhiyan” under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. 1.36 lakh unused items were identified in more than 12000 health institutions in the state.
Namo Swachhata Abhiyan: With the aim of providing pure, clean and safe health services to the citizens of the state, the state-wide “Namo Swachhta Abhiyan” was launched today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and in the presence of Health Minister Praful Pansheriya at GMERS, Auditorium, Gandhinagar. This Maha Abhiyan will be run from 1st to 7th July, 2026 across the state.
As part of this campaign, a large-scale cleanliness campaign has been conducted today in all over 12,000 government health institutions, from sub-centres to medical colleges and hospitals in the state.
On the first day of the campaign itself, approximately 4,674 items like wooden/iron furniture – chairs, tables, windows, doors, cupboards, lockers, beds etc., ambulances, government vehicles, electronics/I.T. Successfully completed repair work of appliances and medical devices.
Apart from this, a total of 1,36,000 unused items have been identified from health institutions across the state. Mainly scrap furniture, old ambulances/vehicles, I.T. and includes medical equipment as well as all linen etc. The process of disposing of all these items as per the rules and in a time bound manner has been started.
Under this campaign, proper disposal of scrap/debris/junk and unused material from the hospital premises, intensive cleaning of buildings and campus, availability of clean drinking water and necessary repairs of pipelines have been done. Apart from this, very important works like fire and electrical safety, furniture repair, minor civil works and infection prevention and control have been carried out keeping in mind the safety of the patients, as stated in the list of the health department.
