Valsad Rain: As the Southwest Monsoon is setting in, South Gujarat is witnessing universal thundershowers, since early morning, Meghraja thundered in Valsad district. Due to heavy rain in Valsad, the situation of water-bombing was created everywhere.

Valsad Pani-Pani, railway underpass had to be closed in 2.8 inches of rain

Valsad district has been lashed with rain since early morning today, with 71 mm (2.8 inches) of rain falling in the city between 6 am and 10 pm. Due to strong winds and thunder storms, there was a problem of flooding in Valsad.

Valsad’s Shipwad and Mograwadi railway underpasses had to be closed due to inundation. Due to which the vehicle drivers had to face a lot of trouble. The residents of Valsad were forced to go out of the city after making a long detour.

Apart from this, due to non-proper disposal of rainwater in low-lying areas of the city, water entered people’s houses and shops. Because of this, people’s homes have been vandalized and goods in shops have been damaged. At many places, people had to be pushed out as vehicles stalled while wading through knee-deep water.

More than 1 inch of rain in 45 taluks today, Vapi received the highest of 7 inches

If we talk about the whole day, 98 talukas of the state received rain from 6 am to 10 pm today. Among which the highest was 181 mm (7.13 inches) in Vapi of Valsad district, 146 mm (5.7 inches) in Umargam, 120 mm (4.72 inches) in Umarpada of Surat, 111 mm (4.3 inches) in Malia Hatina of Junagadh, 107 mm (4.2 inches) in Bhesan, 107 mm (4.2 inches) in Valsad. 106 mm (4.1 inches) of rain fell in Pardi and 104 mm (4 inches) in Mangrol in Junagadh. Today, 45 talukas of the state received more than 1 inch of rain, 19 talukas received more than 2 inches and 10 talukas received more than 3 inches of rain.

Meghmeher in 38 talukas in last 2 hours

Rain has been reported in 38 talukas of the state during a period of 2 hours from 8 to 10 pm. Out of which the highest rainfall of 56 mm (2.20 inches) fell in Ambika taluk of Surat district. Apart from this, 40 mm (1.5 inches) of rain has fallen in Khergam of Navsari, 34 mm (1.3 inches) in Umarpada of Surat, 33 mm (1.3 inches) in Mangrol of Junagadh and 29 mm (1.1 inches) in Bardoli of Surat.
