The state government is eyeing to become a one trillion dollar economy and fulfill the resolution of Developed Uttar Pradesh-2047, for which priority has been given to healthy human resources and healthy society. The state government has given a huge budget of Rs 55,820 crore to the health sector, which is almost ten percent more than the previous budget of Rs 50,552 crore.

A budget of Rs 1,000 crore has been given for the construction of 14 new medical colleges. Funds have also been given to open level-two trauma centers in seven government medical colleges. Adequate funds were also given to National Health Mission and AYUSH.

In the budget for the financial year 2026-27 presented by Finance Minister Suresh Khanna on Wednesday, a provision of Rs 14997 crore has been made for medical education. This will help in upgrading the quality of teaching and medical treatment in 81 medical colleges.

In comparison to the year 2017, MBBS seats in the state have been increased from 4550 to 12800, while the number of PG seats has increased almost four times from 1221 to 4995. In the health sector, the largest budget of Rs 37956 crore has been given to Medical and Family Welfare.

Rs 315 crore has been allocated for the modernization of Kalyan Singh Cancer Hospital in Lucknow. This will also pave the way for setting up more than 22 cancer superspeciality centers in 18 divisions. A huge amount will be spent on the purchase of many expensive equipment including linear accelerator and PET CT for radiotherapy.

The government has made a provision of Rs 130 crore for the treatment of incurable diseases. To make the National Health Mission stronger than before, the government has made a budget provision of Rs 8,461 crore. This sector is considered especially important in the direction of developed Uttar Pradesh and developed India-2047.

Janani Shishu Suraksha Yojana has been implemented in every district. The National Health Mission includes programs like Reproductive-Maternal-Newborn-Child and Adolescent Health, Infectious, Non-Communicable Diseases, and AYUSH to strengthen the health system. This mission combines key health services under the National Rural Health Mission and the National Urban Health Mission.

This includes programs such as ambulance services, reproductive, maternal, neonatal, child and adolescent health, national immunization, vector-borne disease control, tuberculosis control, leprosy eradication, cancer, diabetes, heart disease and stroke. A provision of Rs 2,000 crore has been made for Ayushman National Health Protection Mission and Rs 500 crore for Ayushman Bharat.

A provision of Rs 2867 crore has been made in the budget for the AYUSH sector. In this sector, 2111 Ayurvedic, 254 Unani and 1585 Homeopathy hospitals are running in the state, while there are arrangements for education in eight Ayurvedic, two Unani and eight Homeopathic medical colleges.

-8461 crore to National Health Mission and Rs 2867 crore to AYUSH.
-Rs 2000 crore will be spent on Ayushman Bharat health protection.
-Rs 500 crore in the account of Ayushman Bharat Scheme.
-Kalyan Singh Cancer Hospital received Rs 315 crore.
-Level-2 trauma center will be built in seven government medical colleges.
