Rajasthan’s Deputy CM and Finance Minister Diya Kumari presented the budget for the year 2026-27 on 11 February. Made 10 big announcements for lakhs of students and youth of the state, which are as follows-
1. Self-Employment Scheme: 30 thousand youth will be given loans up to Rs 10 lakh without interest. Apart from this, students of minority community of the state will be given a rebate of 2% in the interest rate on timely payment of loans taken from Minority Finance and Development Cooperative Corporation for vocational and technical education.
2. New examination agency: Rajasthan State Testing Agency (RSTA) will be formed on the lines of NTA, which will handle the process and organization of many competitive examinations including online exams.
3. Dream Programme: ‘Dream Programme’ will be run for college students, which will benefit 50 thousand students.
4. Foreign Language Teaching Programme: Students will be taught foreign languages like Japanese and Korean along with English. At present 1000 youth will benefit from this.
5. Skills Development Programme: Techno hubs will be opened in every district in collaboration with industry partners at a cost of Rs 30 crore. Outcome based model impact model will be brought for skill development of youth in the state. One thousand youth will be prepared for global opportunities in customer centric sectors like hospitality, IT and healthcare services. Major Shaitan Singh Skill Development Training Center will be opened in Jodhpur.
6. Rs 20,000 for Laptop: Meritorious students of Rajasthan Board 10th and 12th examination will be given an e-voucher of Rs 20,000 for laptop.
7. Free School Uniform: Free school uniform will be given to 40 lakh students from class 1st to 8th at an expenditure of Rs 250 crore.
8. 400 schools will be modernized: 400 schools in the state will be modernized in a phased manner. With an expenditure of Rs 1000 crore, these schools will be equipped with facilities like career counselling, smart board, video conferencing setup, building edge learning aid etc.
9. Scholarship for children of martyrs increased: Scholarship given to children of martyrs has been increased to Rs 2500. After April 1, 1999 (after the Kargil war), children of soldiers martyred and permanently disabled in the war will get a scholarship of Rs 2500 from class 1 to 12, which was earlier Rs 2160 and Rs 1200 per year.
10. Magic Box: The government has announced the Magic Box scheme, in which emphasis will be given to sports along with studies. Rs 323 crore will be spent to provide better environment and quality education to children in schools.
Under the New Education Policy 2020, the Rajasthan government has decided to expand the scope of the vocational education program running in 4,019 schools and add 500 more schools by next year. Minister Diya Kumari said that by spending Rs 51 crore 10 lakh, necessary resources, equipment, training and experts will be arranged in these schools.
