Jagran correspondent, Maharajganj. Now the administration is going to take a strict stance against the drivers who continuously ignore the traffic rules. About three thousand two-wheeler and four-wheeler vehicles have been identified in the district, which have been challaned five times or more. The Traffic Department has sent a list to the Divisional Transport Officer to suspend the registration of such vehicles and the driving licenses of the drivers who do not make improvements even after repeated challans.

According to the traffic department, drivers who repeatedly break the rules not only put their lives at risk but also become a danger to other pedestrians and drivers. Violations like over-speeding, without helmet, without seat belt, driving in the wrong direction and use of mobile phone have been reported the most.

Traffic in-charge AP Singh said that the main objective of this strict action is not to punish the drivers, but to make them aware of the traffic rules and strengthen road safety. He said that the administration wants the drivers to understand their responsibilities and follow the rules, so that road accidents can be reduced. Not following the rules not only harms the driver himself but also puts the lives of innocent people at risk.

As soon as the list was received, the ARTO office has expedited the process of action. So far, notices have been issued to about 1700 drivers by the ARTO department. Through these notices, clear answers have been sought from the drivers as to why they did not improve their adherence to traffic rules despite being repeatedly issued challans. Along with this, instructions have also been given to deposit the outstanding amount of the related challans.

Notices are being sent to the drivers. It is mandatory to respond to the notice in time. If a driver’s response is not found satisfactory or he is found repeatedly violating the rules, action will be taken to suspend the registration of his vehicle. This action is also a warning to other drivers that if the rules continue to be ignored, it will not be possible to get away just by paying the challan. There is an appeal to the drivers to improve their behavior in time, follow the rules and cooperate in creating a safe traffic system. – Manoj Kumar Singh, Assistant Divisional Transport Officer.
