Rajkot Food Safety Raid: The state government has come into action mode to ensure that the citizens of Gujarat get pure, sattvic and safe food. Under the direct guidance of State Health Minister Praful Pansheriya, the Food and Drug Regulatory Authority has launched a state-wide stringent verification campaign against adulterants. In this link, a very big news is coming from Rajkot’s Gondal, where the Food Safety Department has seized a suspected spice worth crores of rupees.
Food department team raids Gondal’s ‘Satyam Masala’ factory
According to the available details, May located in Bhimwadi area of Gondal yesterday i.e. on June 17, 2026 by the team of Food and Drug Regulatory Authority (Rajkot). A sudden intensive investigation (RAID) was conducted on a firm named Satyam Masala. This sudden action of the system caused panic among the spice traders. Suspecting large quantity of suspicious and low quality spices during the inspection in the factory, the SEWA officials immediately took action to seize the quantity.
Total 4 samples taken: 35,527 kg quantity seized
Officials took a total of four different suspect food samples (samples) from the factory premises. These samples include coriander powder, corn powder, chilli powder and turmeric powder.
Coriander and corn powder: Loose coriander powder and corn powder were found in the factory. About 6,766 kg of these two substances have been seized, with an estimated market value of Rs. 8,22,620/- amounting to Rs.
Chilli and Turmeric Powder: Besides, large quantities of open chilli powder and turmeric powder found in the factory were also found suspicious. About 28,671 kg of these two have been seized, worth approximately Rs. 1,02,81,585/- has been assessed.
A total of 35,527 kg of suspected spices have been seized during the entire operation by the system, with a total estimated value of Rs. 1,11,04,205/-.
Legal action will be taken after the lab report
According to officials of the Food Safety Department, the four samples taken from the site have been immediately sent to the government-approved laboratory for quality testing. After the official report of this laboratory, if any kind of adulteration or inferior quality is found in it, strict legal court action and penal action will be taken against the concerned firm under ‘Food Safety and Standard Act’.
No leniency against those who compromise public health: Health Minister
Regarding this major action, the State Health Minister Shri Praful Pansheriya said that the State Government is very sensitive and committed to the health and well-being of the citizens. Elements making profit by compromising people’s health will not be entertained under any circumstances. Strict action will also be taken in the coming days against the manufacturers and sellers of adulterated, inferior quality or food items that endanger the health of the consumers. No laxity will be given to such elements in the interest of public health.
It may be mentioned here that this verification campaign is being accelerated in the whole of Gujarat by the food and drug regulatory system. It has been clarified by the department that such random checks and raids will continue in the coming days as well.
