Maharashtra Politics: The biggest and most sensational news of the moment is coming out of Maharashtra politics. The political speculations that have been going on for the last several days have come to an end. The Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) has suffered a major blow in the Lok Sabha. 6 out of 9 Lok Sabha MPs from the Uddhav Thackeray group have officially joined Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena during a high-profile event in Mumbai on Monday evening. With this defection, the political equations of Maharashtra have changed once again.

Now 6 tigers are with us: Eknath Shinde

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde looked very excited at the joint press conference held after inducting the MPs into the party. He welcomed the rebel MPs from the Uddhav group and roared that – now 6 tigers have come with us.

Eknath Shinde further added that all these MPs have now become part of the genuine Shiv Sena family. I heartily welcome him to the genuine Shiv Sena family. Recalling the past, he asserted that earlier we revolted to save the party’s official election symbol ‘Dhanush-Ban’ and the existence of the Shiv Sena party and now the second phase of this fight has begun.

These 6 MPs left Uddhav Thackeray’s side

Prominent faces from Maharashtra include among the MPs who left the Uddhav Thackeray faction and took over Shinde’s Shiv Sena:

How MPs survived the anti-defection law?

According to political analysts, this defection has been done very calculatedly and keeping legal aspects in mind. A rebel group needed the support of at least two-thirds (2/3) of the total number of MPs to avoid being disqualified under the Anti-Defection Law in Parliament.

The Uddhav Thackeray faction had a total of 9 MPs in the Lok Sabha. Of these, exactly 6 MPs (which constitute a two-thirds majority) have joined the Shinde group together. For these technical reasons, legally all these 6 MPs will be protected as Lok Sabha members and they will continue as MPs.

The Delhi meeting increased the controversy

The screenplay of this entire political drama is believed to have been written in Delhi. The Uddhav Thackeray group called a very important meeting of the Parliamentary Party in Delhi. Only 3 out of 9 MPs of the party were present in this meeting, while 6 MPs were absent. It was only after this absence that the speculations intensified and on Monday evening all these 6 MPs came to Mumbai and held Eknath Shinde’s hand.

After this development, the Thackeray faction is on the backfoot and the Shinde faction has emerged stronger in the upcoming politics of Maharashtra.
