OpenAI has stated on its website that these advertisements will not be visible to you directly but will appear as ‘sponsored links’. To make this easier, the company has decided on some special things.

Place: Ads will always appear at the bottom after ChatGPT has finished answering. It will not come anywhere in between.

Appearance: These links will be kept completely separate from the answer so that you don’t get confused about which part of the information is provided by ChatGPT and which part is advertising.

Quality of answers: Most importantly, ads will not change the way ChatGPT responds. It will not happen that in the process of showing advertisements, it gives you wrong or biased information.

The simple thing is this: You will get the information complete and correct, just below it there will be a small advertisement link which you can see or ignore if you want.

Which users will see ads?

OpenAI has clarified that currently these advertisements are not for everyone but will be visible only to those who are using the free service (free plan) or low cost ‘Go’ plan. On the other hand, if you have a premium subscription like Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprises or Education, then you will not be shown any ads. If you want to use ChatGPT without any ads, you will need to upgrade to any of the paid plans.

Can free users turn off ads?

OpenAI has given a special facility to free users that if they do not like advertisements then they can turn them off. But there is a condition for this – if you stop advertisements then the limit of questions you can ask to ChatGPT in a day will be reduced. However, those using the low-cost ‘Go’ plan will not have this option to turn off ads.
