Gara saree, once considered the heritage of Parsi women, has today become the identity of luxury handloom, whose history is 150 years old. It started in the 19th century, when some traders from Gujarat used to go to China to import tea. While returning from there, they used to bring a special Chinese silk, called Gaaj, for their wives.
