Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Ramanan Ramakrishnan Told that talks will be held with the Home Ministry and other key stakeholders regarding this portal. After this it will be presented to the Cabinet for approval. The government plans to eliminate the role of agents and middlemen in the recruitment of workers, which has become a big problem.

Ramanan said that due to dependence on middlemen, foreign workers have to pay a lot of commission. They also become victims of modern slavery. He said, ‘This regard has been discussed several times in Parliament and this issue has also been raised in the media. We want to eliminate the problem of middlemen. The minister said that a new portal will be prepared this year itself, so that foreign workers can malaysia You don’t have to pay huge commission to get a job.

He told that some foreign workers pay commission ranging from $5000 to $8000 to get a job in Malaysia. Due to this, social problems also arise. There is also a danger of human trafficking and money laundering. He told that International Labor Organization It says that the recruitment fee should not be more than one month’s salary of the foreign worker.

How will the portal work?

Companies will be able to talk directly to foreign workers on the proposed portal. This way it will help both parties to clearly understand the terms and conditions of employment before taking the job. This will help prevent situations where people are promised some work, but have to do something else when they reach Malaysia. Right now companies talk to agents. The company is not aware of the conditions on which the agents are getting the workers to sign the job offer.

Companies will get a chance to connect with foreign workers based on the job conditions on the portal. There will also be an option for virtual interview. To overcome language challenges, Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be used for ‘real-time translation’.
