Adani Mangal Seva on Thursday completed one year of providing respect and opportunities to 500 ‘Divyang’ women. Adani Mangal Seva was announced by Diva and Jeet Adani during their wedding on February 5 last year. Under this, he had taken a pledge for social security of disabled women.
Run by Adani Foundation, the social welfare and development arm of the Adani Group, this initiative provides support to women with disabilities in the age group of 25 to 40 years. These women have been identified by project partner Youth for Jobs and have unique disability ID cards.
According to a statement issued by the Adani Foundation, “In its first year, the initiative has fulfilled its promise of supporting 500 women with disabilities. A fixed deposit of Rs 10 lakh was made for each beneficiary, ensuring monthly income and long-term financial security.”
Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani posted on social media platform ‘X’ and wrote that Jeet and Diva are completing one year of their married life. Hearty congratulations to him on this happy occasion. On this day last year, he had taken a pledge of ‘Mangal Seva’, under which he pledged to provide financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh per sister to 500 newly married disabled sisters every year, which is still moving ahead with the same dedication. This is a matter of immense satisfaction and gratitude for me.
He further wrote that over time, this effort has given an opportunity for a new beginning with respect and new hope in the lives of many families. To be honest, when smile and confidence return in a daughter’s life, the satisfaction of that moment is such that even the biggest achievements and glory of the world seem small. As a father, I feel blessed that my children are trying to add hope and smile to the lives of many families along with their own happiness.
This initiative will run for at least five years and during this period 500 disabled women will be provided assistance every year. A budget of Rs 50 crore has been set every year for this. The completion of one year of Adani Mangal Seva was celebrated in a program organized at Belvedere Club Lawn, Shantigram.
On this occasion, Dr. Preeti Adani, Chairperson, Adani Foundation said, Adani Mangal Seva is inspired by the idea that personal happiness has the highest meaning when it is shared for the betterment of society. It is not just a programme, but a feeling and responsibility. During the event, Gautam Adani also released a book based on Adani Mangal Seva, which includes stories of change and empowerment.
