This time 1.38 lakh more applications than last year
National Testing Agency (NTA) says that this time the students were given all the necessary information before registration and were also guided during registration, the result of which is that 1.38 lakh more applications have been received compared to last year. A total of 14,92,764 students have registered in 2026 while 13,54,699 students have applied in 2025. CUET exam Will take place between 11-31 May. NTA also claims that every possible effort will be made to allot the applying students a center in the city of their choice.
Maximum registration from UP, Delhi at second place
Maximum 3.70 lakh registrations have been done from UP. After that, 1.39 lakh registrations have been done from Delhi, 1.34 lakh from Bihar, more than 93 thousand from Madhya Pradesh and about 89 thousand from Rajasthan. If seen this way, 55 percent of the registrations have taken place from these five states only. Students from 38 states and union territories have applied. 79 thousand registrations have been done from Haryana, more than 53 thousand from West Bengal, 52 thousand from Kerala, 52,390 from Tamil Nadu, 45,747 from Jammu and Kashmir.
Large number of applications for Delhi University
Students from every state of the country have applied for CUET. One special thing is that whether it is UP, Bihar or any southern state, a large number of people from everywhere have applied for admission in Delhi University. Students from North East have also participated. The number of universities adopting CUET score is also increasing continuously and till now 236 universities have written to NTA that CUET score will be valid in them. This number will increase further.
How has the pattern changed from 2022?
When in 2022 CUET When it started, it was in Computer Based Test i.e. CBT mode and students were given the option to take the exam in 9 subjects. A rule was made to give examination of 10 subjects in 2023. In 2024, the exam was introduced in hybrid mode and students had the option to choose 6 subjects. In 2025 again the entire examination was brought into CBT mode and the number of subjects was reduced to 5. Even in 2026, students were given the opportunity to appear for examinations in maximum 5 subjects.
This time a large number of students chose 4 subjects
Sources say that a large number of students have opted to appear for the examination of 4 subjects. Most of the students opting for five subjects have opted for General Test, General Test is 8.84 lakh applications. A trend has emerged that students are clear about which courses they have to try for admission and students have chosen their subjects accordingly.
Most applications in English, competition may increase
Maximum 12.43 lakh have applied in English and in such a situation it is believed that competition for admission may increase. In most of the places including Delhi University, marks of one language are considered in the admission formula. There are 9.23 lakh applications for the Chemistry exam. 8.84 lakh applications have been received so far for the General Test. 8.86 lakh applications have been received for Physics, 5.69 lakh applications have been received for Mathematics.
Syllabus based on NCERT books
It is important for the students preparing for CUET to prepare only on the basis of the syllabus released on the website of NTA. Even students who do not take coaching can score well on the basis of this syllabus. The syllabus of all the subjects has been uploaded on the website, in which the topics of each subject are given. The syllabus of the University Entrance Test has been finalized on the basis of NCERT books. This time, a plan is being worked on to release the results soon.
