There is a delay of 4 days in coming the result of JEE Main Session 1, the examination for admission in engineering courses. According to the already decided schedule, the result of JEE Mains January 2026 was to be declared by February 12. But on the night of 11th February itself, NTA informed that now the result of the examination will be announced by Monday, 16th February 2026. Reason for delay- Sources are saying that the objections raised regarding the provisional answer key are being investigated in detail, which is taking some time.

JEE Main Final Answer Key: Drop questions numbers will be available

National Testing Agency (NTA) had released JEE Main-1 provisional answer key and sought objections from students till 6th February. All the questions to which NTA received objections were placed before a committee of experts. Sources say that at least 6 questions can be dropped in the first session examination. However, the expert committee is re-examining all these questions. Whatever questions are dropped in JEE Mains Final Answer Key, students will be given full marks for those questions. The agency says that the decision will be taken only keeping in mind the interests of the students. After the provisional answer key, each and every question and answer of the questions whose answers have been challenged has been reviewed.

What does question drop mean in JEE Main?

A dropped question means that a question contains an error that cannot be corrected, such as a typing error or incorrect data. Such a question is removed from the paper and all the candidates of that shift get full marks for that question, whether they have attempted it or not.

In 2026, the maximum number of students had applied for the first round of JEE Mains examination. Their number was 13,63,900 and more than 13 lakh have appeared for the exam. The JEE Main exam for admission to BE and B.Tech courses was held in ten shifts over five days. A senior NTA official says that this time strict monitoring has been maintained for JEE from entry into the exam center till the completion of the exam. In the shift in which a question is dropped, all the students appearing in that shift will be given marks for that question. If there is a typing error in any question or there is a mistake in translation, then it is dropped.
