The Link Expressway project, approved to connect Ganga Expressway and Agra-Lucknow Expressway, is now moving towards getting off the ground. In the budget of year 2025, the state government had released Rs 900 crore for the construction of this 92 kilometer long link expressway. Since then, Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEDA) and Revenue Department are engaged in the process of land acquisition.
The government has given a clear indication of giving priority to this project by proposing funds for this project in the state budget presented on Wednesday. This link expressway will connect to the Agra-Lucknow Expressway near Kausiya village in Sawaijpur tehsil area of Hardoi. For its construction, land of farmers of Markada, Kanakapur Uberiya, Sarsai, Timirpur, Saidapur and Raipur villages is being acquired. After completion of the project, this route will establish direct connectivity between Ganga Expressway and Agra-Lucknow Expressway.
With the construction of this link, people of Hardoi district will get great convenience in reaching Lucknow, Meerut and Prayagraj. Besides, fast and easy route will also be available to the passengers going towards Madhya Pradesh, Jhansi and Bundelkhand region. While at present one has to travel more time and additional distance to reach these places, the construction of Link Expressway will significantly reduce the travel time.
Experts believe that this expressway will not be limited to mere transportation facility, but will also promote trade, transportation, supply of agricultural products and industrial investment in the district. Better connectivity will increase employment opportunities for local youth and give a new direction to regional development. This link expressway connecting Ganga and Agra-Lucknow Expressway can prove to be a new axis of development for Hardoi, which will provide the residents of the district the benefit of fast, safe and convenient travel.
