According to the board exam datesheet released by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), CBSE 10th board exam will be held twice a year. The first time examinations will be held from 17th February to 09th March and the second time board examinations will be held from 15th May to 01st June 2026. The syllabus for both the exams will be the same.
Difference between the two sessions of CBSE 10th board exam
Exam twice is a good initiative for the students preparing for CBSE 10th board exam. This will give students a second chance to improve their scores. But students will have to take special care of one more thing. If a student is thinking that he will appear for the May-June exam instead of the February-March exam, then this can prove to be the biggest mistake. Because the board has clearly said that it is mandatory to appear in the first session of 10th board exam i.e. February-March exam. You will not be given a chance to appear in the examination in the second session directly.
CBSE board exam second session is optional, not backup
The board has advised students to prepare seriously for the first exam and not think that the second attempt will be a backup for them. The second exam will only be an opportunity to improve the score of the first attempt in the exam. The second exam is optional. If students wish, they can leave the second attempt, but cannot leave the first session.
Which marks will be final?
Students who want to appear in both the CBSE 10th board exams may have a question in their mind that if they get good marks in the first session and less marks in the second attempt, then which marks will be considered final. So the answer is- Only the attempts in which students score well will be considered final. Whether it is in the first attempt or the second attempt. The board has advised parents not to put pressure on their children for the second attempt if they score well in the first attempt.
What will happen if you fail in more than two subjects?
Keep in mind that the board will give a chance for second attempt for improvement in only three subjects. Students who fail in more than two subjects will be considered failed. They will not be eligible to appear in the board examination for the second time. They will have to study again for the entire year and appear in the main board examination of 2027. However, students who fail in one or two subjects can pass the exam in compartment category as before.
