Report: AI is being used extensively in business, India has emerged as the biggest power after America; Security still a challenge – India Ranks Second Enterprise Ai Emerges Big Power Report Says Impact Of Large Investments Skills Development

India has emerged as a major power in the world in terms of adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI). India ranks second globally in the use of enterprise AI/ML after the US. According to the latest report from Zscaler, a cloud security leading company, Indian enterprises recorded a total of 82.3 billion AI/ML transactions between June and December, 2025. This number represents 46.2 percent of the total AI activities in the Asia-Pacific region, making India the undisputed leader in the region.

This growth in India is perfectly in line with the government-backed continued digital transformation efforts through 2025 along with large public and private investments in AI infrastructure and skills development. The expansion of the AI-enabled workforce and cloud-first infrastructure have contributed to this remarkable growth of the country compared to previous years. Cloud-first frameworks help deploy AI services faster. The report is based on an analysis of 1,000 billion AI/machine learning transactions between January and December, 2025 on the company’s zero trust exchange platform.

Technology-communication sector is leading the growth

The growing use of AI in India has been led primarily by technology and communications, Zscaler said in its ThreatLabz-2026 AI Security Report. There have been 31.3 billion transactions in these areas. This is followed by manufacturing (15.7 billion), services (12.6 billion) and finance-insurance (12.2 billion) sectors.

Subrata Sinha, CISO-in-residence, Zscaler in India, said the scale of enterprise AI adoption in the country is growing faster than most organizations can handle it.

Companies do not have information about sensitive data

Despite the strong pace of AI adoption in India, significant security challenges remain, Zscaler said. These include the wide gap between the use of agentic AI as a weapon and innovation-security measures.
