Amreli Rain: Monsoon has become fully active in Gujarat and the intensity of rain is increasing continuously especially in Saurashtra and South Gujarat. The Meteorological Department has also issued an alert following the forecast of heavy rain. After circling Gir Somnath and Mangrol, now it seems that Megharaja has set his sights on Amreli.

In fact, in the last 24 hours, Meghraja’s raudra form has been seen in Amreli district. Especially in Rajula, Khambha and Dhari talukas of the district, the rivers have become overflowing due to continuous heavy rains. Heavy rains have turned fields into bats, while in low-lying areas people’s houses and shops are flooded with rainwater.

Widespread flooding situation in Rajula, Khambha and Dhari talukas

Rain has been recorded in 118 talukas of the state from 6 am to 8 pm today. Of which the highest rainfall of 250 mm (9.8 inches) fell in Rajula taluk of Amreli district. Apart from this, 234 mm (9.2 inches) in Dhari, 154 mm (6 inches) in Khambha, 113 mm (4.4 inches) in Savarkundla, 107 mm (4.2 inches) in Jafarabad, 107 mm (4.2 inches) in Lilia, 106 mm (4.17 inches) in Bagsara.

Intensity of rain has been observed in Rajula, Khambha and Dhari talukas of Amreli district. Dhatrawadi and Raidi dams in the district have overflowed due to continuous torrential rains. Many areas in Amreli district have turned into bats due to waterlogging.

The administrative system has also been alerted due to heavy rainfall. A control room helpline number has been issued for reporting any untoward incident and for assistance. Along with this, as many as 11 villages of the district have been alerted. Looking at the flood situation, MLA Hira Solanki has called on local swimmers to join the relief operations through a video. Even in Khambha, the National Highway to Nageshree has been closed due to flooding on the road. Due to which 20 villages have lost contact.

Rain in 53 talukas in 2 hours, Dang’s Subir received 3/4 inches of water

During 2 hours from 6 pm to 8 pm, rain has been reported in 53 taluks. Subir taluka of Dang district received the highest rainfall of 70 mm (2.7 inches). Apart from this, Dhari in Amreli, Chikhli in Navsari and Gandevi received 60 mm (2.3 inches) of rain each.

Looking at the rainfall details throughout the day today, 35 talukas received more than 1 inch, 19 talukas received more than 2 inches, 10 talukas received more than 3 inches, 8 talukas received more than 4 inches and two talukas of Amreli received more than 9 inches of rain.
