Monsoon 2026: Monsoon is now fully active across the country, bringing torrential rains to most of the states. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a strong depression (light air pressure) has formed over interior areas of South Jharkhand and North Odisha. This depression will keep Monsoon more active over central parts of the country for the next 3 days. Due to this dual activity of monsoon, the Meteorological Department has issued a severe warning of thunderstorms, lightning and heavy rains in 22 states of the country. During this period, gusty winds of 60 to 70 km/h are expected in coastal and affected areas.

According to the Meteorological Department report, the northern boundary of monsoon is currently passing through Jamnagar, Udaipur, Ajmer, Jhunjhunu, Hisar and Bathinda. During the next 3 days, conditions are favorable for the advance of Southwest Monsoon over parts of North Arabian Sea, Gujarat, Haryana, rest of Punjab and parts of Rajasthan. The IMD has strongly advised fishermen not to venture into the sea till July 7 due to inclement weather along the north-west Bay of Bengal and Odisha-West Bengal coast.

Weather of Gujarat

According to Meteorological Department, today on 7th July 2026 there is possibility of very heavy rain in Bhavnagar, Surat, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad, Dang districts. Amreli, Bharuch, Narmada districts will experience heavy to very heavy rains while Gir Somnath, Vadodara, Panchmahal, Dahod, Chhota Udepur districts may experience heavy rain. Apart from this, scattered light to moderate rain is likely in Junagadh, Porbandar, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Rajkot, Botad, Surendranagar, Morbi, Kutch, Vav-Tharad, Banaskantha, Patam, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Mahisagar, Kheda, Anand, Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar districts.

Delhi-NCR likely to receive rain with thunderstorm till July 9

Monsoon rains are continuing in and around the national capital Delhi. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for thunderstorm and rain in Delhi from July 7 to 9. Light to moderate rain is likely in the morning or afternoon today on July 7. During this, strong winds can blow at a speed of 50 km/h. Delhi is expected to see a maximum temperature of 35°C and a minimum temperature of 26°C today. As per the IMD forecast, rainfall activity will continue with thunderstorms in Delhi on July 8 and 9 as well.

Weather of Uttar Pradesh

A rain warning has been issued for several districts of both eastern and western parts of UP. These include Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, Meerut, Agra, Jhansi, Bareilly and Ayodhya. Eastern Uttar Pradesh will see widespread and heavy rains, while western UP will witness scattered rains. Wind gust of 60 km/h is likely to blow in the state today on July 7.

Weather of Bihar

Bihar districts like Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Bhagalpur, Purnia, Begusarai, Chapra, Saharsa and Samastipur will continue to receive rain till July 12. Thunderstorm along with thunderstorm is expected in the state today on July 7, with wind speed of 40-60 km/h. While between July 9 and 12 there is a possibility of very heavy rain.

Weather of Rajasthan

The eastern and western districts of the state such as Jaipur, Udaipur, Kota, Ajmer, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Bharatpur, Alwar, Sikar and Jhunjhunu are under rain warning from July 7 to 12. Winds of 40-60 km/h with thunderstorms and lightning during July 7 to 10. East Rajasthan may experience very heavy rains from July 6 to 9 and heavy rains on July 10. While there is an alert of heavy rain in West Rajasthan on July 7 and 8.

Weather of Himachal and Uttarakhand

The districts of Himachal Pradesh including Shimla, Mandi, Kullu, Kangra, Chamba have been warned of very heavy rain on July 7 and 8. Areas like Dehradun, Nainital, Haridwar, Rishikesh and Pithoragarh of Uttarakhand are expected to witness widespread and heavy rains during July 7 to 12.

Stormy winds will blow in Jharkhand and Jammu-Kashmir

Under the direct impact of the depression, the districts including Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad and Bokaro of Jharkhand will experience severe thunderstorms and strong winds with a speed of 40-60 km/h from July 7 to 10 and rain will continue. On the other hand, areas of Jammu and Kashmir including Srinagar, Jammu, Anantnag and Baramulla have also been issued a rain warning with gusting winds of 40 to 60 km/h from July 7 to 12 along with lightning. The administration has appealed to people to stay in safe places during inclement weather.
