Surat has been receiving heavy rainfall since yesterday, with Kamraj receiving the highest rainfall of 15.8 inches. 567 people have been shifted to safer places due to waterlogging in low-lying areas due to heavy rains.

If we look at the details of the rainfall in Surat since early morning, Kamraj has received the highest rainfall of 15.8 inches. Apart from this, 12 and a half inches of rain has fallen in Surat city, 14 inches in Palsana, 7 and a half inches in Bardoli, 8 and a half inches in Mahuva and 7 and a half inches in Ambika taluk.
Evacuation of people trapped in the flood was carried out
Following the incessant rains in Surat city and district since yesterday, under the guidance of Surat District Collector Tejas Parmar, the process of evacuating people trapped in water on roads, houses or other places in the affected areas has been undertaken. Under which a total of 118 children and staff of the residential ashram school located in Sarthana have been rescued and sheltered at Sarthana Community Hall.
Keeping in view the possibility of waterlogging in the low-lying areas of the city due to heavy rains, the Surat Municipal Corporation has taken precautionary measures to evacuate the citizens of the affected areas to safe places.
As part of this operation, a total of 567 citizens have been shifted to safer places from the following areas.
Sanjay Nagar – Bhimnagar: 45 Citizens
Premnagar – Buddha Vihara: 258 Citizens
Krishna Nagar: Odia School and Suman School no. 194 citizens at 15
Krishna Nagar / Gadha Nagar: School no. 70 citizens at 222
Thus, a total of 567 citizens from Gadha Nagar, Krishna Nagar, Premnagar and Sanjay Nagar areas have been safely evacuated to various schools and a community hall. Food, clean drinking water and other necessary basic facilities have been arranged by the Surat Municipal Corporation for all the displaced citizens.
The Monsoon situation is being continuously monitored by the Surat Municipal Corporation and immediate relief and rescue operations are being carried out as per the need. Citizens are also appealed to follow the instructions of the administration and stay away from rumours.
Varachha, City Light and Katargam areas were turned into bats, with water reaching the first floor of the building
Due to the continuous heavy rains, most of the areas of Surat have experienced waterlogging. In particular, several areas including Varachha, City Light and Katargam are coming to the fore as the scenes have turned into bats.
The first floor of a building called Poddar Arcade in Varachha area has been filled with rain water. As all the shops on the ground floor of the building got flooded, the traders are facing the fear of loss of lakhs of rupees.
