Tri Series Final: The Indian young players have created history by performing brilliantly in the Tri series played on the soil of Sri Lanka. Opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who could not convert a good start into a big score throughout the series, finished with interest in the final match. In this title and decisive match played against the Sri Lankan team, Vaibhav batted so explosively that the bowlers of the opposing team went berserk. 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi has set a new record by scoring List A cricket’s fastest fifty in just 11 balls.

The India A team led by captain Tilak Verma won the final match by 66 runs and claimed the trophy.

Missed the century but made history

In this match played at Rangiri Dambulla Stadium, Sri Lanka won the toss and invited India to bat first. The pair of Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Priyansh Arya, who came to open from India A, gave a banging start. Vaibhav started attacking the Sri Lankan bowlers from the very first over as if he had just arrived from the dressing room. From the other end, Priyansh Arya understood his responsibility and gave maximum strike to Vaibhav by taking a single-double run.

Vaibhav brilliantly completed his half-century (fifty) in just 11 balls, which is the fastest half-century in the history of cricket. Even after the fifty, Vaibhav did not stop and continued the run pace. However, he unfortunately missed his century by just 6 runs and was caught out. Vaibhav played a blistering innings of 94 off just 29 balls, which included 10 fours and 8 towering sixes.

Captain Tilak’s half-century, India put up a huge score

Priyansh Arya, who opened with Vaibhav, contributed 39 runs in 29 balls. Vice-captain Ruturaj Gaekwad looked in good rhythm but fell short of his half-century after scoring 40 runs. Captain Tilak Verma led the way and scored a brilliant half-century. Tilak added 67 runs in 90 balls while batting firmly.

In the final overs of the innings, wicketkeeper Kumar Kushagra (36 runs), Anukul Roy (39 runs) and Vipraj Nigam (27 runs) played useful innings to take the score of the Indian team to 377 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted overs. For Sri Lanka, Kugathas Mathulan, Ravindu Fernando and Vanuja Sahan took 2 wickets each.

Yash Thakur broke Sri Lanka’s back early on

Chasing a huge target of 378 runs, Sri Lanka got off to a poor start. Indian bowler Yash Thakur struck at the top order and gave Sri Lanka the opening 3 major blows. He brought Avishka Fernando (3 runs), Niroshan Dickwella (25 runs) and Nuwanidu Fernando (21 runs) to the pavilion cheaply.

Then Sadira Samarawickrama and captain Sahan Arachige shared a 53-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Indian young bowler Ashok Sharma, playing for the first time in this series, broke this dangerous partnership. Ashok Sadira (52 runs) was caught out by Kumar Kushagra. Then Ravindu Fernando also got out after scoring 19 runs.

Captain Tilak’s magic continued in bowling as well, India won by 66 runs

When the Sri Lankan team was falling behind in the run chase, Indian captain Tilak Verma tried his hand at bowling himself. Tilak dismissed Sri Lankan captain Sahan Arachige (38 runs) to strengthen India’s grip on the match. The lower order resisted with Vijayakanth Vyaskanth scoring 39, Vanuja Saha a combative 62, Dulaj Samuditha 15 and Mohammad Shiraj 21 but it was not enough for victory.

Sri Lanka were bowled out for 311 runs in 47.1 overs and India won the match by 66 runs. Yash Thakur and Vipraj Nigam top bowled for India with 3 wickets each, while Anukul Roy claimed 2 wickets.
