Jagran correspondent, Bareilly. The civil airport will soon be expanded. The purchase of land for airport expansion has been completed. Now the process of its land lease agreement has been started. Airport expansion will provide more facilities to passengers. The civil airport in Bareilly was constructed five years ago. At that time the airport was built by acquiring about 48.5 acres of land.

Air service started from here on March 8, 2021. Since then, air services are running continuously for Mumbai and Bangalore. Trishul Airbase is also near the airport. Flights have been going on continuously for four years, but till now the civil airport does not have its own runway. There, aprons and tax ways have been made, but the planes have not started stopping yet.

There are preparations to start air services from here to other cities also. To meet all these needs, there was a need for expansion of the airport. For this, instructions were given from the government to acquire 23.55 acres of land. Out of this, 16.97 acres of land has been purchased from the farmers as per mutual agreement.

Some government land has also been taken. Approval of Rs 53.40 crore was received for purchasing private land, out of which Rs 44.26 crore has been distributed to the farmers. Now there is no private land left to buy for expansion. After the completion of the procurement process, the contract is now ready.

Special Land Acquisition Officer Desh Deepak Singh said that farmers’ land has been purchased for airport expansion. Now a land lease agreement has to be made between the state government and the civil aviation department. Its process has been started.
