Weather Today, 24 June 2026 | Today’s Weather Rain: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rain in 18 states of the country for the next 14 hours. Southwest Monsoon has become active over West Coast regions and Northeast India. With the arrival of monsoon in Mumbai, there is a big change in the weather in states including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a strong possibility of gusty winds of 80 kmph and thundershowers in some parts of the country.
Entry of Monsoon in Mumbai
After a long period of sultry and humid conditions, the Southwest Monsoon has officially arrived in Mumbai on June 23 with a delay of 13 days. Mumbaikars got a big relief from the heat as the day started with strong winds and rain on Tuesday.
Usually monsoon sets in Mumbai on 10 June. However, the earliest arrival in the last 75 years was recorded on May 26 in the year 2025. Earlier in 2019 and 2023, the monsoon reached Mumbai on June 25, while in 1981, on June 23. As for the longest delay, in 1958 and 1974, the monsoon reached as late as June 28.
Which areas of Gujarat will rain today?
Light to moderate rain is forecast in various parts of Gujarat today. Scattered rain may occur at Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod and Mahisagar in north and central Gujarat.
Along with this, thundershowers are likely in Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad as well as Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli. Saurashtra’s Rajkot, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, Botad and Diu will witness rainy conditions. While the weather is likely to remain dry in other parts of North Gujarat and rest of Saurashtra-Kutch.
How will the weather be in Delhi-NCR and Uttar Pradesh?
Delhi-NCR is likely to receive rains after dust storms due to unsettled weather. According to the IMD, winds of 50 to 80 kmph are likely to gust in the afternoon, bringing down the heat and temperature.
On the other hand, several districts of Uttar Pradesh including Noida, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Mathura, Agra, Ghaziabad and Meerut have been warned of heavy rain and thunderstorm on 24 June. Wind speed can reach up to 90 km per hour in these areas.
Will there be relief from the heat in Rajasthan?
Rains and thunderstorms are forecast in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, which will provide partial relief to the people from the scorching heat. Apart from this, Udaipur, Bikaner, Bharatpur, Sawai Madhopur, Bundi, Bhilwara, Pali, Sikar and Ajmer have also been warned of heavy rain. Wind speed is expected to be around 60 to 70 km per hour in these districts.
