India Monsoon Alert: According to the latest report released by the Meteorological Department (IMD), monsoon has become fully active in most of the states of the country. Monsoon will intensify over the country in the coming days due to the low pressure area formed over the North-West Bay of Bengal. The Meteorological Department has issued a severe warning of heavy to very heavy rains and thunderstorms in more than 17 states of the country. In the next 25 hours, this system is likely to cross the Odisha coast and move towards Chhattisgarh, which will increase the intensity of rainfall over central and western India.

Heavy rain warning in Gujarat

The next 24 hours are considered critical for Gujarat, Konkan-Goa and Madhya Maharashtra. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rainfall in these regions. Heavy rains may inundate roads in Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad and other parts of Konkan, disrupting traffic and local transport services.

People will get relief from heat in Delhi-NCR

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for thunderstorm and rain from July 6 to July 8 in the national capital Delhi. Delhi and its surrounding areas are likely to experience light to moderate rain from Monday morning onwards. Meanwhile, the wind speed may reach up to 50 km per hour, due to which the maximum temperature in Delhi will drop to around 33 degree Celsius and people will get a great relief from cold and heat.

Rain with strong winds over Uttar Pradesh and Bihar

Several districts of eastern and western Uttar Pradesh like Meerut, Noida, Ghaziabad, Bulandshahr, Baghpat, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Bareilly, Gorakhpur and Deoria have been warned of heavy rain for the next three days. Thunderstorm with wind speed of 40 to 60 km/h is expected in these areas. Similarly, major districts of Bihar including Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Purnia and Bhagalpur are likely to experience heavy rains at some places with thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds during July 6 to 8.

Heavy rains in eastern and western parts of Rajasthan

Monsoon is progressing rapidly in Rajasthan. From July 6 to 10, the districts including Jaipur, Udaipur, Kota, Ajmer, Jodhpur and Bikaner will experience thunderstorms and lightning at a speed of 40 to 60 kmph. According to the Meteorological Department, scattered areas of East Rajasthan are likely to receive very heavy rains, while parts of West Rajasthan are also likely to experience heavy rains.

Alert in hill states: Himachal, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir

In hilly areas vigilance has been advised in view of monsoon calamity. The districts of Himachal Pradesh including Shimla, Mandi, Kullu, Kangra, Chamba may receive heavy rain at isolated places on July 6 and 7.

In Uttarakhand too, heavy rains, thunderstorms and lightning are expected from July 6 to 11 in tourist places like Dehradun, Nainital, Haridwar, Almora and Tihri.

Jammu and Kashmir, including Srinagar, Jammu, Poonch and Anantnag, are also forecast to witness heavy rains with 40-60 kmph winds till July 11, which may increase the risk of landslides.

Jharkhand: Wind will blow at a speed of 40-60 kmph

The Meteorological Department has warned of rain and lightning in Jharkhand districts including Ranchi, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Jamshedpur and Hazaribagh from July 6 to 8. Winds of 40 to 60 kmph are likely to occur during this period along with heavy rains in many areas.

Monsoon will intensify over the country during the next 3 days, covering North Arabian Sea, Gujarat, Haryana, Punjab and rest of Rajasthan. The administration has appealed to people not to venture out unnecessarily during inclement weather and stay in safe places.
