Navneet Dhaliwal’s bat stuck in the ground
Harsh Thakar played a shot down the leg side and Navneet Dhaliwal called for a single. The ball went into the hands of UAE’s Mohammad Arfan and he hit a direct throw. Navneet Dhaliwal slid the bat to enter the crease but the bat got stuck in the ground on the line of the crease and could not go inside. Even after this he would have easily reached inside the crease. Navneet’s foot had gone deep inside the crease but it did not touch inside. Because of this the third umpire declared him out.
It is necessary to go inside the crease
To avoid run out in cricket, it is necessary for the batsman’s bat or any part of his body to touch inside the crease. Once inside touch, if the bat or legs go in the air then the batsman is not given out. But Navneet Dhaliwal’s bat remained outside the crease while his feet were in the air. For this reason he was out. Dhaliwal played an innings of 34 runs in 28 balls.
