At Garudeshwar in Narmada district, the system has taken strict action against the top officials for illegal construction and demolition.
Narmada Demolition News: The administration, known mostly for removing illegal pressure from ordinary citizens, was seen in a different tough form on Sunday. Houses of high-ranking officials constructed in violation of government norms in a sensitive area around the ‘Statue of Unity’ (SoU) at Garudeshwar in Narmada district have been demolished.
Bulldozered against government officials
For the first time in the history of Narmada district, the government officials’ houses have been bulldozed by the system. There has been a lot of confusion as 10 JCB machines were installed and the demolition work was carried out on a Sunday holiday. In the matter of violation of government land and rules, the administrative system has taken drastic action. A tight police presence was made at the spot to prevent any untoward incident.
How was the illegal construction?
According to the information received in this matter, during the year 2019, the then Collector R.S. As many as 11 to 13 high-ranking officials were allotted plots for residential purposes near Garudeshwar through Ninama. The investigation revealed that, despite the clear rules in this allotment, as many as 7 officials had disregarded the government conditions and constructed the commercial form without town planning approval.
Disclosures made through RTI, drastic measures taken
Regarding this entire malpractice, the then Mamlatdar P.K. An official complaint was filed by Joshi after getting the details under Right to Information (RTI). On the basis of this evidence, the current Collector gave a strict order to demolish all constructions and take back possession of the land and declare it ‘Sri Sarkar’. Under which 5 illegal mansions have been razed to the ground so far.
Which officers are involved in malpractice?
The then Provincial Officer and present Additional Collector D.K. Bhagat, the then Election Officer M.D. Media, retired Mamlatdar V.V. Machar, then Town Planner H.V. Gameet along with R.M. Chowdhury, R.V. Baria and LM. Big officials like Dindor are involved. However, it has been learned that some of these officials have now obtained a stay from the court.
Law Equal for All: Legislator’s Reaction
MLA Dr. Darshanaben Deshmukh said that this issue was raised in the district coordination committee. This construction without any permission by abuse of power is violation of law. The government is determined to prosecute malpractice, whether official or non-commissioned. The message from this action is clear that law is equal for all and no one will be arbitrarily executed on government land.
