Are there any signs of drought?
It is being speculated that there may be a drought this year due to the delay in monsoon. But there is no need to despair given the rainy weather. Because, in the last 25 years there have been 6 times of El Niño effect. Out of which less rain has been observed five times.
But in 2019, despite the effect of El Nino, the country received 10% more rain. In short, data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) covering the 2001-2025 monsoon seasons suggests that late monsoons are not the cause of droughts.
