The target is to cross 90 kg

After winning the gold medal, Chanu told PTI, ‘I am very happy. This performance has boosted my confidence. Earlier I was competing in 49 kg, achieving such a result in 48 kg is a big thing. I hope that in the next competition I will cross the 90 kg mark. Even today I tried, but I was not properly trained so I could not do it. But once the training starts at full speed, I am sure I will lift 90 kg.

Mirabai Chanu won the silver medal for India in the 49 kg category in the Tokyo Olympics. In 2024, she missed the medal by finishing fourth. However later this category was removed. Because of this Chanu had to shift to 48 kg.
