According to the Meteorological Department, in the next 15 hours, the 20 states of the country that may experience a natural disaster include Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Kerala, Assam, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Meghalaya and Sikkim.
Today Weather Update 21 June 2026 | Today’s Weather Rain 21 June 2026: The scorching heat and unbearable humidity currently prevailing in most of the states of the country are showing signs of getting a major relief soon. According to the latest bulletin released by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the next 15 hours are considered extremely severe and emergency for 20 states and union territories across the country. The Meteorological Department has issued a severe warning (alert) of thunderstorms, strong storms and heavy rains in these areas due to pre-monsoon activity and atmospheric changes. The wind speed can reach up to 80 kmph during this period, so people have been advised by the administration not to venture out unnecessarily and to be alert.

Temperature will drop in Delhi-NCR, wind speed will be 70-80 kmph
Delhi and its surrounding IT Regions (NCR) are expected to have pleasant weather from 21st to 25th June. Today on June 21, heavy rains with thunderstorms are quite likely over NCR areas. Meanwhile, the wind speed is estimated to be 70 to 80 kmph, due to which the heat will drop significantly and the maximum temperature will reach 38 degrees Celsius. The sky will remain partly cloudy and the temperature will remain stable between 37 and 38 degrees during the next 22 to 25 June.
Heavy rain forecast in UP and Bihar
The maximum temperature in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, will be around 41 degrees Celsius today, but the Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain alert for other major districts of the state such as Agra, Mathura, Meerut, Kanpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, Gautambuddha Nagar, Bijnor, Firozabad, Bulandshahr, Muzaffarnagar, Etah and Aligarh. On the other hand, the temperature in Bihar capital Patna will remain at 39 degrees, but Bhojpur, Siwan, Buxar, Gaya, Nawada, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Katihar, Purnia, Samastipur, Khagaria, Araria, Bhagalpur, Munger and Kishanganj may experience heavy rain with wind speed of 65 kmph.
Relief from heat in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh
The maximum temperature will reach 37 degrees and minimum 26 degrees Celsius due to cloudy weather in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. However, Jodhpur, Barmer, Jaisalmer, Alwar, Sikar, Churu, Jhunjhunu, Sri Ganganagar, Chittogarh, Bhilwara, Nagaur and Ajmer are under rain warning with wind speed of 55 kmph. In Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal, the temperature will also drop to 34 degrees. Narmadapuram, Vidisha, Khargaon, Chhatarpur, Balaghat, Mandla, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Shivpuri, Agar Malwa, Rajgarh and Shajapur will experience wind speed of 50 kmph and thundershowers.
Alert in hill states and south-east India
Dehradun in Uttarakhand will see a temperature of 35 degrees, but Rishikesh, Haridwar, Nainital, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar, Chamoli and Pauri Garhwal are likely to witness thunderstorms with wind speed of 60 kmph. The temperature in Himachal Pradesh’s famous tourist destination Manali will drop to a maximum of 13 degrees and a minimum of 4 degrees Celsius. Areas including Shimla, Kullu, Solan, Kangra may experience calamitous rain with wind speed of 70 kmph.
Heavy rains are forecast in districts like Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Kanyakumari of South India Tamil Nadu and light rains may occur in Chennai. Guwahati and western parts of northeastern state of Assam have been warned of very bad weather with the possibility of lightning during the next 2-3 days.
