Pavagadh Rockfall Accident: A big and very sad tragedy happened early this morning at the legendary pilgrimage site Pavagadh Dungar in Gujarat. Due to the rains in Panchmahal district, a landslide-like situation has occurred on Pavagadh hill. Several pilgrims were crushed by large boulders falling from the hill, and two bodies were recovered. Following this incident, a wave of mourning has returned among the pilgrims and devotees.
The incident took place early in the morning near Patiapul
According to information received, the accident took place early in the morning around 5 am, when the devotees were climbing the hill for the darshan of Mataji. Suddenly stones and debris started tumbling down from the hill near Patiapul. The stones were falling down rapidly as the ground had become completely bare due to continuous heavy rains. Due to which the pilgrims passing below had no chance to escape.

Two pilgrims so far Dead bodies found
In the early morning accident at Pavagadh, some devotees were victims of heavy stones falling from the mountain. So far, the bodies of two pilgrims have been recovered, some are still feared to be buried under the rocks. The situation is being continuously monitored by the administration. The operation of shifting the injured to the hospital is going on.

Given the seriousness and danger of the situation A ropeway technical team and a disaster management team were immediately dispatched to the spot. At present, rescue operations on war footing by the system (Rescue operation) is running in full swing. Continuous and intensive efforts are being made to find out if any other pilgrims are buried under the stones and debris and to evacuate the trapped people to safety.
The system appealed to the travelers to be careful
There is a risk of landslides on Pavagadh hill due to rain. As part of safety, the system has appealed to the pilgrims to exercise caution while climbing the hill during heavy rains and follow the instructions of the system. Following the incident, security agencies have become more alert in view of the heavy rains
