Marsh and Maxwell also became victims of Hemantha
In his third over, Dushan Hemantha dismissed Australia captain Mitchell Marsh. Marsh had also scored a half-century at the head. The umpire did not give Marsh LBW but Sri Lanka took DRS and got the wicket of Marsh. Hemantha also trapped Jose Inglis on the next ball but wicketkeeper Kusal Mendis missed the stumping. Dushan Hemantha bowled the last over of his spell in the 16th over. He hunted down the set Glenn Maxwell. After giving 14 runs in the first over, he gave only 23 runs in the next three overs and dismissed three key batsmen. Head and Marsh had added 104 runs for the first wicket. Maxwell was also batting well and had he stayed till the end, he could have taken Australia beyond 200.
Dushan got a chance in place of Hasranga
31 year old Dushan Hemantha was not a part of the Sri Lankan team in this tournament. He got a chance in place of injured Wanindu Hasaranga. Before this tournament, he had played only three T20 International matches. His debut was against Zimbabwe last year.
Dushan started learning cricket under the coaching of his father. His father Sujit Hemantha is also a cricket coach. His father recognized his talent at the age of 7. Dushan Hemantha was initially supposed to bowl off spin but his father made him a leg spinner.
