Wicketkeeper-batsman Thomas Ryu
18-year-old Thomas Reu is England’s wicketkeeper-batsman, who has been given the captaincy of the team for the Under-19 World Cup. Ryu is being considered as the future wicketkeeper for the senior England team. Cricket experts include him in the category of great wicketkeeper-batsman like Adam Gilchrist, because Ryu also plays similar explosive innings with the bat. Ryu was born on 29 November 2007 in Lambeth, Surrey. At the age of just 17, Ryu made his debut for Somerset County. However, Somerset has used him only in ODI and T20 matches.
Made first class debut by defeating elder brother
Ryu got the opportunity to make his first-class debut for the England Lions (England-A) team against Australia-A, in which he scored 19 and 47 runs. Till now this is the only first class match he has played. The special thing is that for this debut he had to defeat his own elder brother Jack Rieu, who is a part of the England Lions team as a wicketkeeper-batsman.
The fastest century was scored against India
Ryu had scored a strong century against the Indian Under-19 team during its tour to England last year. Ryu had scored a century against Team India in just 72 balls, which is a new record for the England Under-19 team in terms of number of balls. Ryu has so far scored 66 runs in 1 first class match, 352 runs with 2 fifties in 11 List-A matches and 18 runs in 3 T20 matches.
