Madhya Pradesh News: A very shocking incident of medical negligence has come to light from Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar district, embarrassing the government health system. A doctor at the Banda Civil Hospital here has been accused of allegedly blinding a 19-month-old innocent child during treatment. The victim’s family claims that while treating the child’s eyes, the doctor made a big mistake and put nasal drops in the child’s eyes instead of the eyes, due to which the innocent lost his eyesight forever.

According to information received, Indraj Vishwakarma, a resident of Bhusa Kamalpur village took his 19-month-old son Vinay Vishwakarma to Banda Civil Hospital for treatment on May 29, 2026, complaining of cold, cough and red eyes. After taking the OPD slip of the hospital, the family contacted the pediatrician Dr. Himanshu Verma was consulted.
The child’s father alleged that after the examination, the doctor prescribed eye drops, paracetamol syrup and injections. But during the treatment, the doctor showed gross negligence and put nasal drops in the child’s eyes. The family stayed at the hospital for 3 to 4 hours after the procedure, but instead of improving, the child’s condition continued to deteriorate and his eyes began to show signs of severe infection.
The doctors of AIIMS Bhopal did their best
As the child’s condition became more critical at Banda Hospital, the doctors immediately referred him to Sagar District Hospital. Even there, the family found the case serious and shifted Vinay to AIIMS Bhopal for better treatment. Hearing what the expert doctors at AIIMS Bhopal had to say after a detailed examination of the child, the family was moved. The doctors made it clear that due to improper medication or medical negligence the child’s sight was completely lost and now he will never be able to see again.
Constitution of Police Grievance and Inquiry Committee
After this shocking incident, the victim’s father Indraj Vishwakarma has filed a written complaint in the Banda Police Station. He has alleged that the doctor’s criminal negligence has thrown the future of his only son into darkness. The family has demanded strict legal action against the guilty doctor and hospital staff.
On the other hand, the health department has swung into action as soon as the matter was leaked in the media. Sagar Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr. Ganga Prasad Arya has constituted a three-member high-level inquiry committee to probe the incident with immediate effect. The committee has been ordered to submit a report on the entire matter within a week. The CMHO has assured that the investigation will be completely impartial and strict action will be taken against anyone found guilty based on the report.
