Ahmedabad Jagannath Rath Yatra 2026: The celebration of the 149th Rath Yatra to be held in Ahmedabad this year has already started with enthusiasm from today. Today, June 29, Monday i.e. the holy day of Jeth Sud Purnima, a grand Jalyatra of Lord Jagannathji was held from Jamalpur Jagannath Temple. After Jalabhishek, God appeared in disguise. Now in the evening Lord will go to Mosal with sister Subhadra and brother Balabhadra.
Water filled in 108 kalash from near Sabarmati Bhudar
This morning, the float reached the banks of the Sabarmati river at Bhudar, accompanied by 12 elephants, flags, bullock carts and hundreds of devotees chanting ‘Jai Ranchhod’, ‘Govind Bolo, Gopal Bolo’. Ganga Poojan was performed on the banks of the Sabarmati River with scriptural rituals.
Then go to the middle of the river via a river cruise 108 Sabarmati river water in sacred kalash was filled. The Yatra returned to the Jamalpur temple with 108 kalashes filled with water. Special prasad including mug, jambu, mango, pomegranate and cucumber were also taken on this occasion.
Panchamrita to Jalabhishek and Gajavesh darshan of God
Lord Jagannath, sister Subhadra and brother Balabhadra were solemnly immersed in Jamalpur Jagannath Temple with Vedic chants. Apart from Sabarmati river water, Abhishek was performed with panchamrit and abeel, gulal, sandalwood mixed with milk, curd, honey, sugar and ghee. After the Jalabhishek was completed, the Lord assumed a supernatural form, seeing which the devotees became emotional.
At Saraspur At Mama’s house 15 days stay
After Jalabhishek and Gajavesh darshan, Lord Jagannathji along with brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra will reach the Ranchodharai temple at Vajte-Gajte Saraspur, his mosal at 4 pm. He will be accorded a grand welcome here at Mama’s house and the Lord will stay in Mosal for the next 15 days, where devotees can avail of His darshan.
Presence of dignitaries and strict arrangements
Many political and social leaders were present along with Mahant Dilipadasji Maharaj and Avichaldasji Maharaj of the temple in Jalyatra and Pujavidhi. A tight police presence was arranged for the entire yatra and program.
Ahmedabad City Mayor Hitesh Barot, Deputy Mayor Anjuben Shah, Standing Committee Chairman Kamlesh Patel, Gujarat BJP State President Jagdish Vishwakarma, Former Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel, MLA Amit Shah, MLA Kaushik Jain and Congress MLA Imran Khedawala were also present and participated in the puja ceremony.
