England beat Scotland
Kolkata: In the 23rd match of the T20 World Cup 2026, the England team has registered its second consecutive win by defeating Scotland by 5 wickets. In this match, Scotland team batted first and scored 152 runs on the board. In reply, the England team chased this score by the 19th over.

Tom Banton’s brilliant innings won

The England team, which set out to chase 153 runs, had a bad start. Phil Salt went on to score 2 runs in the first over and then Jos Buttler scored 3 runs. However, after this, Jacob Baithle (32) along with Tom Banton took England’s innings forward. After this, Sam Curran scored 28 runs and Will Jacques scored 16 not out. Banton was the star of this victory, who made his team win by scoring unbeaten 63 runs.

Amazing work of Adil Rashid and Dawson

With the help of three wickets from Adil Rashid and two wickets from Liam Dawson, England bowled out the entire Scotland team for 152 runs in 19.4 overs in an important match of ICC T20 World Cup Group C here on Saturday. Experienced leg spinner Rashid took three wickets for 36 runs and left arm spinner Dawson took two wickets for 34 runs. Fast bowler Joffra Archer got two wickets.

Scotland lost wickets continuously

Scotland were in a good position at 113 for three and looked like they would cross the 200-run mark with captain Ricky Berrington (49 runs) and Tom Bruce (24 runs) looking in good form. But England’s spin duo changed the course of the innings in the middle overs due to which the big score that was expected fell short of expectations.

Berrington missed making fifty

After giving away 26 runs in his first two overs, Rashid changed the course of the match. He dismissed Berrington one run short of his half-century. In his next over, Rashid took two wickets in three balls in the form of Matthew Cross and Mark Watt. England’s spin duo took five wickets in four overs, reducing Scotland’s score from 113 for three to 127 for 8. The team lost five wickets for 14 runs in the middle overs.

Scotland’s batsmen failed

Jamie Overton (1 for 23) also bowled tightly from which Scotland failed to recover. England gave the initial shock thanks to the bowling of Archer (2 wickets for 24 runs) who dismissed openers George Munsey (04) and Brandon McMullan (00) in three balls inside the powerplay. Michael Jones (33 runs) tried to increase the score by hitting two fours and a six off Sam Curran in the last over of the powerplay, but was out in the same over.

Scotland’s score in the powerplay was 42 runs for three wickets. After this, Berrington and Bruce added 71 runs in 41 balls for the fourth wicket, which put Scotland in a good position. The pitch was providing extra bounce and pace, which Archer took good advantage of in his opening spell. During this period, Archer also achieved a feat, he became the third England fast bowler after Stuart Broad and Mark Wood to take 50 wickets in all three formats.
