A team from Nilambagh police station is searching for these absconding doctors.
Bhavnagar Medical College ragging case: All 7 senior doctors who were suspended on the charge of ragging with junior doctors in Bhavnagar Medical College and Sir T Hospital have left the hostel and absconded. To nab all these accused, the Nilambagh police have formed two separate teams and set the wheels in motion.
Inhuman atrocities on juniors
The details of physical and mental torture inflicted on 13 first-year resident doctors by 7 second-year senior doctors at the trauma center from March 1 to June 14 last are shocking. Accused seniors used to keep junior doctors standing outside the wards and OTs all night, and make fun of them and take photos and videos of them.
Junior doctors were made to stand for long periods of time until they passed out or developed muscle pain. They were not given any fixed time to eat or sleep, and were called face-to-face at 3 o’clock in the morning and threatened with beatings.
Police Complaints and Proceedings
In this matter on 20 June 2026 Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Department Dr. Ajay Senta filed an official complaint against 7 doctors at Nilambagh Police Station. Police have registered a case under BNS Act 115(2), 352, 351(1), 296, 54 based on the evidence like video footage and mobile screen shots provided by the junior doctors. As per the registered offence, the accused in this case can be punished up to 3 years.
Strict decision of anti-ragging committee
The first-year doctors filed a complaint on June 14 with evidence on the e-custbin portal. ABVP, NSUI and Medical Association made a strong representation that no immediate action was taken by the Dean. Following this, the anti-ragging committee meeting was held on June 18, in which, after eight and a half hours of discussion, it was decided to suspend the senior doctors at 2 pm.
