Bhavnagar News:A native of Mota Khokhara village and living in an area known as Dungar of Bajothia, the economic situation of the girl’s family was very poor. As the family was living in a hilly and extremely remote area and the domestic cattle were killed by a predatory animal, they were going through severe economic crisis. Apart from this, the family was not ready from the beginning to undergo the necessary heart surgery as the baby girl’s weight was very low and expressed a clear decision not to undergo the operation under any circumstances.

In such challenging circumstances, the team of National Child Health Program (RBSK), team of Primary Health Center Valukad (Ghogha), Community Health Officer (CHO) of Ayushman Arogya Mandir Mota Khokhara, Women Health Worker Mrs. Mamtaben Ladhwa (FHW) and Asha Worker made repeated home visits to the family. The trust of the family was earned through continuous counselling, persuasion, detailed information about the free treatment available by the government and necessary financial support.

In this whole process the Medical Officer of RBSK Dr. Dayaben Patel, Dr. Mubarakhusen Chowkia, Mrs. Jijnaben Bhoj as well as the Nirjanand family provided important financial support and constant guidance. AYUSH Medical Officer of Primary Health Center Valukad (Ghogha) Dr. Dhaval Dave and Dr. Rakesh Khimani played the role of an important co-ordinator in the entire process and established effective coordination between various departments making the entire process of treatment smooth and successful.

The combined efforts of all the teams concerned, relentless follow-up, frequent counselling, financial support and service resulted in the family finally being ready for the girl’s treatment.
