Telecom regulator TRAI will now take action against spam and scam calls on its own. Till now, your complaint was waited for to take action on a number, but now Artificial Intelligence (AI) will take this decision itself. If AI finds any number suspicious, then AI will block that number without any formal complaint.
How will the action be taken?
According to TRAI’s new proposal, now the basis of action will not be complaint but AI algorithm.
constant monitoring: If the AI solution of telecom companies flags a number as potential spam for 10 consecutive days, then it can be penalized.
Real-time analysis: AI looks at how many times calls are being made from a number, what is the duration of the calls and what is their pattern.

Why the need for change?
Companies consider 30-40 crore calls as suspicious every month, but complaints come in only a few thousands. In view of this, TRAI has decided that it will itself fill this gap through AI.

| basis of action | At least 5 complaints in 10 days | AI flagging for 10 consecutive days |
