Nasa: NASA’s Perseverance Rover created history; Drove a car on Mars with the help of AI, big contribution of this Indian – Nasa’s Perseverance Makes History By Driving Itself On Mars Using Ai

In today’s modern era, Artificial Intelligence i.e. AI has become an important part of our future. Using this technology, the world’s largest space organization NASA has achieved a historic success. NASA’s Perseverance Rover has set a new record by driving on the difficult surface of Mars completely with the help of AI without any human instructions.

The path was decided without human help

Generally, to operate a rover on Mars, scientists sitting on Earth have to plan its every step in detail. But in the test conducted on 8 and 10 December, this rover surprised everyone by determining its path on its own without any human help. This is the first and biggest incident in the world of space science, where a rover has completed its journey by taking decisions on its own without any instructions.

How does this technology work?

Since Mars is about 225 million kilometers away from Earth, there is a lot of delay in the signal reaching there. To solve this challenge, scientists have used ‘Generative AI’ technology in the rover. With the help of this technology, the rover itself understood the data of old missions and decided its waypoints on the basis of photographs, just like humans. Now this rover can take safe decisions on its own instead of waiting for instructions from a human to move on inaccessible and rough roads.

Main role of Indian scientist Vandi Verma

This entire mission has been led by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). On this historic success, JPL’s senior engineer and Indian origin Vandi Verma said that Generative AI is now going to completely change the world of space science. He said that whether it is identifying the rocks of Mars, finding your exact location or choosing the safest route – AI is capable of doing all these tasks in a better way than a human, which will make future missions much easier.

path to the future

According to NASA chief Jared Isaacman, this success shows that our technological capabilities have now advanced significantly. Such ‘self-driving’ technology will not only make future missions better than before, but will also help the rover make faster decisions on difficult routes despite the delay in receiving signals from Earth. This will save time and the scope of scientific discoveries will also increase significantly.
