Nasa gives permission to take smartphone in space: Astronauts will be able to take Android and iPhone in the mission – Nasa Astronauts Smartphone Allowed Artemis 2 Moon Mission

Now the pictures and videos coming from space are going to be more interesting. For the first time, NASA has allowed its astronauts to take smartphones with them during missions. This rule will be applicable from the Crew-12 mission, which is scheduled to depart for the International Space Station (ISS) next week. After this, this facility will also be available in Artemis-2 mission, which will take humans around the moon for the first time since the 1960s. However, due to technical glitches in Artemis-2 mission, it has been postponed till March.

New way to save memories

Until now, astronauts relied on outdated Nikon DSLRs and GoPro cameras. But now they will have the latest iPhone and Android devices in their hands. This means we can now get to see funny TikTok videos in zero-gravity or stunning ultra-wide-angle selfies from inside the spacecraft.

According to the information, astronauts will now be able to carry iPhone and Android smartphones in space missions. With this they will be able to become more comfortable and natural in taking photos and videos. This means that people on Earth will be able to see these missions from closer than ever. The American Space Agency is trying to document the journeys with the help of astronauts.

Why was permission not given till now?

Usually it takes years for any new technology to be approved for space missions, because even a small technical mistake can prove costly. However, this time NASA has left behind its old processes and approved modern hardware rapidly. According to Isaacman, this activity will also prove to be very helpful in future research and scientific work done on the surface of the Moon.

It is not easy to send any new technology into space. Even a small mistake can jeopardize the mission. For this reason, till now the cameras used in space travel were mostly decade-old Nikon DSLRs or GoPro. These cameras were not bad, but they did not have the ease and freshness of smartphones.

Smartphones have already gone to space

It is worth noting that this is not the first time that smartphones are going to space. Earlier, Elon Musk’s company ‘SpaceX’ had allowed passengers to carry phones in their private space missions, but this is a big and new step for NASA’s government missions.
