yes, i wrote ishq
My first book was ‘Man Patang Dil Dor’. After that there is ‘Chai-Si Mohabbat’ and the third book is ‘Ghanghor Ishq’. For me, tea and love are the same – if both become cold, their taste spoils and if they become too hot, they burn. Both require the right amount of sweetness and heat.
I have many love stories, but all are half-baked. That is why it is said that if love is incomplete then the poem is complete. I feel that I cannot write love as good as I do. I love words more than myself, so words always have the upper hand. At home, my father, elder brother, sister all write and all are better writers than me. But only I wrote love and I wrote it deeply.
I wrote a poem about failure
I was an introvert in my childhood. If someone asked me my name, my face would turn red. But later I started speaking so much that now people say, ‘Shut up brother!’ In our family, father was an English professor, mother was a Hindi teacher, brothers and sisters were professors, despite this I failed one year, so after failing I wrote a poem. To tell the truth, I have failed once in studies and many times in love.
Once my bicycle was stolen. For this everyone at home scolded me a lot. I didn’t understand what was my fault in this. So the first poem was written on a bicycle. In this way, from the seventh class, my thoughts started coming down on paper through poems.
love should be celebrated
I am a full time lover of words and acting. I think love should be celebrated all the time. Just as it is difficult to do comedy in acting, in the same way it is difficult to add humor to poetry. But both give happiness to the mind. People used to say that poetry books do not sell, but all three of my books are best sellers.
I know people want to read love, want to live love. After reading ‘Chai-Si Mohabbat’ people say that you have written what was in their mind in your book. After reading the poem ‘Tere Na Hone Par’, people ask when did you live the life of girls. ‘Ants have settled on the salt box, I told you not to touch anything’, these lines written by me went viral.
When I fell in love I wrote a poem
In my first year of college in Delhi, I befriended Meenakshi Chand, who is now my wife and mother of our daughter. Then our friendship turned into love. During that time, I fell deeply in love in real life and also with poetry. During my college days, I wrote and recited a lot of poems.
When our theater group was formed in Delhi, I got exposure to writing scripts, dialogues, songs and acting. During that time I also wrote a lot on social events. Apart from romantic poems, there are some poems in my books which highlight social issues. I want to write all types of poems. I write for people in language they can understand.
he waited for me 10 years
After coming to Mumbai in 2009, the first 10 years were a struggle. I don’t remember where I spent my 10 years between the ages of 25 and 35. I was working hard day and night, but did not get a good break. Then my sisters used to send me their scholarship money on the pretext of birthday or festival. When I was not able to settle in my career, Meenakshi waited for me for 10 years. In those 10 years, we saw many ups and downs in our relationship, but the thread of love kept us together.
I wrote a lot of poetry, but never thought of writing a book. When Geeta Di heard my poems in the ‘Super Dancer’ reality show, she asked me to write a book. After that I kept writing and wrote 3 books. Soon my fourth book i.e. my first novel ‘Ishq Barahvin Paas’ is coming. My solo play ‘STD PCO Wala Pyaar’ is an excerpt from this novel, which I present for one and a half hours.
