Born in Tadwale, a small village in Solapur district of Maharashtra, Sharan Kamble came from a poor family. His parents worked hard day and night to educate their son. Father worked as a daily wage laborer and mother sold vegetables. Despite financial constraints, the parents helped their son in his studies as much as possible.

Sharan used to walk 12km every day to go to school.

Sharan’s early education was from a government school in the village. But after 10th class he had to work hard to study. He used to walk to school every day, about 12 kilometers away from the village. There was no electricity in the house, so the nights were spent studying by lantern light.

After B.Tech, studied from IISc

Facing difficulties in life, Sharan was moving forward with the belief that one day his hard work would definitely yield results. Whenever he was upset, he would remember the struggle of his parents. He completed BTech from Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli. After this, he did postgraduate studies from the country’s prestigious institute IISc.

UPSC preparation along with college studies

Despite many difficulties, Sharan’s steps did not waver, rather his steps became stronger. Maharashtra Government scholarship also helped in this. The scholarship of Rs 12,000 per month for eight months helped him a lot. Coming to Delhi and preparing for UPSC.

Cracked UPSC exam many times, became IPS after rejecting job worth Rs 20 lakh

After engineering, a company offered an annual package of Rs 20 lakh to Sharan Kamble. The amount must have been more than expected for his family. But Sharan had decided that he had to join civil service. He rejected the package of Rs 20 lakh. After some time, his hard work paid off and he cracked three UPSC exams back-to-back.

In 2019, passed UPSC CAPF exam with 8th rank. In 2020, cracked UPSC Civil Services exam with AIR-542 rank and chose IPS. However, he did not stop there, he gave the UPSC exam again in 2021 and secured AIR-127. He was selected in the IFS cadre, but he chose his dream and remained an IPS officer. Sharan Kamble’s journey is a living example of unwavering faith, hard work and determination.
