Recently a Florida state lawmaker from the Republican Party EXILE ACT A bill has been introduced in this name, in which demand has been raised to abolish H-1B. 1. EXILE ACT
Florida Congressman Greg Steube introduced a bill in the House of Representatives to eliminate the H-1B visa. The name of this bill is ‘Ending Exploitative Imported Labor Exemption Act’ or EXILE Act. It has been proposed that changes should be made in the ‘Immigration and Nationality Act’. If this happens, then H-1B visas for fiscal year 2027 will become zero. 2. PAUSE ACT
In November 2025, Republican Congressman Chip Roy (Texas) proposed banning all immigration. PAUSE stands for ‘Pausing on Admission Until Security Assured’. In this, not only H-1B was targeted, but there was talk of stopping all types of immigration. Not only this, but there was a demand to abolish OPT also. 3. H-1B, L-1 Visa Reform Act
Chuck Grassley (Republican-Iowa) and Dick Durbin (Democrat-Illinois) introduced the H-1B and L-1 Visa Reform Act of 2025 last year. In this bill, there was a demand to tighten the rules for all visa categories. Giving an example in the bill, it was said that the job should be allowed only to those who have a degree from an American university or whose education is equivalent to the degree taken in America. 4. End H-1B Now Act
Former Congressional Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene had introduced the ‘End H-1B Now Act’ in January 2026, before her resignation from Congress. He proposed ending the H-1B visa program while exempting medical professionals. All of these proposals have just been introduced and none of them have passed the House or the Senate.
