Parents work as laborers in the fields

Coming from a tribal family of Tamil Nadu, Rohini has seen poverty very closely. His family works hard all day in the fields of others to earn one meal. Still the household expenses are barely covered. Despite financial constraints, Rohini, who lived in a small house in the hills of Panchamalai, had big dreams. She wanted to become an engineer.

Rohini has studied till 12th class from the government school of Chinna Isupur, Tamil Nadu. Her father Mathiyazhagan works as a laborer in Kerala and Mang Vansathi works as a laborer in the fields near the house. Many times Rohini also used to go to work in the fields. Rohini, who dreamed of becoming an engineer while working as a labourer, used to work during the day and study at night. Because he realized that if he wanted to get out of poverty and fulfill his dreams, the only way was through education.

Cracked the country’s toughest IIT-JEE in the first attempt.

IIT-JEE is one of the toughest exams in India. It was not that easy for Rohini. Yet he not only prepared for JEE Mains but also secured qualifying marks in his first attempt. Rohini had scored 73.8% in the JEE Mains examination of the year 2024. She became the first tribal girl from her state to achieve this feat. Her success paved a new path for other girls in the community as well.

Gave credit for success to school and government

Rohini, who scored qualifying marks in JEE Mains exam, gave the credit of her success to her parents, apart from the school headmaster and the Tamil Nadu government. Because his entire education was done from tribal school, the expenses of which are borne by the Tamil Nadu government. He said, ‘Tamil Nadu state government has come forward to pay all my fees. I thank the Chief Minister for helping me. I performed well because of my principal and the staff at my school.

Where is Rohini today?

Today Rohini is a student of the country’s prestigious institute, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli i.e. NIT Trichy. On the basis of good score in JEE Mains, he got admission in Mechanical Engineering in NIT Trichy.
