Actually, the first session of JEE Mains 2026 was held in January. The BE/B.Tech papers were conducted in 10 shifts from January 21 to January 29. Whereas Paper-2 for BArch and BPlanning was held on 29 January.

After the release of JEE Mains result, candidates will be able to download their JEE Mains scorecard by following the steps given below-
- First of all go to the official website of NTA JEE Mains jeemains.nta.nic.in.
- On the homepage ‘Final Results for JEE(Main) 2026 [Paper-1(B.E./B.Tech)] Is Live!’ Click on the link (will be active soon).
- A new page will open, here ‘Final Results for JEE(Main)’ [Paper-1(B.E./B.Tech)]Click on the direct link.
- Now enter your application number, password and captcha code.
- As soon as you click on submit, your scorecard will open on the screen. Check it out.
- Download the scorecard and take a printout for further reference.
JEE Mains Qualifying Marks: How many marks are required to pass?
JEE Mains does not have passing marks but is based on cut-off percentile. The qualifying percentile of JEE Mains for JEE Advanced eligibility is decided on the basis of the final answer key. Raw marks alone do not decide merit. The qualifying percentile is determined using the scores calculated from the final answer key. The percentile scores obtained through normalization ensure fairness in the shifts that occurred during the Session 1 exam.

How to get admission in IIT after JEE Mains?
After the release of JEE Main result, if you want admission in IIT, you will have to go through 7 steps.
- Step 1 – It is necessary to be among the top 2.50 lakh candidates.
- Step 2 – Register for JEE Advanced.
- Step 3 – You have to score well in both the papers of JEE Advanced.
- Step 4 – Register for JoSAA counseling on the basis of good rank in JEE Advanced.
- Step 5 – Choice filling and locking of your preferred IIT institute and branch.
- Step 6 – JoSAA Counseling Round 2 Mock Seat Allotment will have to be adjusted.
- Step 7 – Admission to IIT will be done through various counseling rounds of JoSAA including document upload, reporting, and admission confirmation.
- However, on the basis of JEE Mains score, one can also take admission in top NITs, IIITs, GFTIs and many state level engineering colleges of the country.
JEE Mains Session-2 in April
Candidates who are not able to qualify in JEE Mains Session-1 can appear for Session-2. JEE Main 2026 Session 2 examinations will be held in multiple shifts between April 2 and April 9, 2026. City allotment slip and admit card will be released a few weeks before the examination. Candidates have to download the admit card and check the exam details like date, time and center carefully.
