CBSE Board Exam 2026 Dress Code: CBSE 10th and 12th board exams are starting from 17th February 2026. This time more than 46 lakh students will appear in the CBSE board examinations. According to the schedule released by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the examination for Mathematics Standard and Mathematics Basics of class 10th will be held on February 17. There will be an examination for Biotechnology/Entrepreneurship for class 12th. Students preparing for board exams will have to take care of reporting time, admit card, dress code etc. before leaving home.

CBSE had also issued necessary guidelines along with the datesheet of high school and intermediate board exams. Students will have to pay special attention to the reporting time given. According to the official notice of CBSE, all the candidates will have to reach the exam center at least half an hour before the start of the exam. The exam will start at 10:30 am. Therefore, students will not be allowed to enter the exam center after 10:00 am. Keeping in mind the important national/international summits, high-level meetings and other programs to be held on the exam days, there may be congestion, route diversions and delays in different parts of the country due to traffic regulations. Therefore, students are advised to leave their homes early so that they can reach the exam center on time as per the instructions of CBSE.

CBSE Exam Dress Code: What to wear and what not to wear in board exam?

Regular students will have to come to the exam center wearing their school uniform. Students of private schools are allowed not to wear school uniform. They have been advised to wear light, simple and comfortable clothes. Keep in mind that wearing any kind of jewellery, earrings, nose pin, ring, chain, bracelet and clothes with big buttons is strictly prohibited at the exam centre. Shoes and slippers should also be simple and plain soled.

CBSE had given this information before the start of the board exams. The board has given clear instructions that do not forget to carry the hard copy of your admit card during the examination. Apart from this, you can take school ID, blue pen, pencil, scale, rubber and transparent water bottle to the exam room.

What not to carry to CBSE exam room?

Mobile phones, calculators, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, earphones, cameras are absolutely banned in the exam room. Apart from this, you cannot carry purse, bag, book or any other kind of printed or handwritten slip. If caught, action may be taken.

Important rules inside the exam room

After entering the exam room, the important things mentioned here have to be kept in mind-

  • At the time of entry, admit card and ID will have to be shown as asked by the examiner.
  • Before sitting on your seat, check around to see if there is any paper or slip lying around. If found, immediately inform the examiner.
  • After getting the answer sheet, first check it. The answer sheet should not be torn.
  • Fill your roll number, subject code and other important details carefully on the OMR sheet.
  • In case of any problem, inform the examiner by raising your hand without making any sound.
  • Do not leave your seat before the end of the exam time.

Students are advised to read the instructions given in the admit card carefully. It is important to follow all the instructions issued by CBSE. Students will have to maintain discipline in the exam center. The timing of each exam is given on the datesheet and admit card. Trust the official website for any information related to board exam.
