The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), the apex body of chartered accountants in the country, has announced its new leadership on Thursday. The Council of ICAI has elected Prasanna Kumar D as its new President for the term of the year 2026-27.
CA Prasanna Kumar D will take charge as the 74th President of the institute. Before this he was serving as the Vice President of ICAI. Along with the President, the Council has elected Mangesh Pandurang Kinare as the new Vice President of the institute. This election was conducted by the 26th Council of ICAI.
Journey from volleyball player to top position
Newly elected Chairman Prasanna Kumar D has professional experience of over four decades. He became a Chartered Accountant in 1984 and has served the organization in various roles. Apart from his professional skills, he also has interest in sports and is also a volleyball player.
Huge network of 15 lakh members
ICAI is one of the largest professional accountancy bodies in the world. At present there are more than 15 lakh members and students associated with the institute. Its network is extremely extensive, consisting of 5 regional councils and 185 branches across India. ICAI also has a strong presence at the global level, under which 54 foreign chapters and 31 representative offices operate.
