Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman addressed the Lok Sabha on the budget debate on Wednesday. Addressing the Lok Sabha, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman explained about the strategic priorities of the budget and tabled the facts related to it in an organized manner. He stressed that the government has given priority to labour-intensive sectors in the budget. Under this, special attention has been given to the biopharma sector.
Expressing commitment to provide large domains to startups for their expansion, the Finance Minister has made it clear that the Central Government is fully ready to work with the states for the development of mega textile parks.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, “The gross tax receipts in this budget are estimated at Rs 44.04 lakh crore. This is about 8% more than the estimated revenue of 2025-26, that is, there is an increase of Rs 3.26 lakh crore. If we look at the total expenditure of 2026-27, it is Rs 53.47 lakh crore, which is much higher than our tax receipts. Capital Expenditure Estimated at Rs 12.22 lakh crore, which is 3.1% of GDP and 11.5% more than the estimated revenue for 2025-26…”.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, speaking in the Lok Sabha during the debate on the Budget, said, “The 16th Finance Commission analyzed the share of the state transferred by the Center to the states from 2018-19 to 2022-23 and concluded that the transfers made by the Center in all these years exactly match the recommendation of the Finance Commission. Therefore, we are not alone in making this claim. The Finance Commission itself, after studying it in detail, has said in its report that Whatever amount was to be given to the state governments for the financial years 2018-19 to 2022-23 has been given. There is no scope for any doubt about this for the states.
