In the month of January, Maruti Suzuki’s premium hatchback Swift was the best selling hatchback car and it was purchased by 17,806 customers. Swift sales showed an annual growth of 4 percent as 17,081 units were sold in January last year. The current ex-showroom price of Swift starts from Rs 5.79 lakh and goes up to Rs 8.80 lakh.
2. Maruti Suzuki Baleno at number two
Maruti Suzuki Baleno was the second best selling hatchback car in the Indian market in the month of January and it was purchased by 16,782 customers. Baleno sales have seen an annual decline of 19 percent, as 19,965 units of this premium hatchback were sold in January 2025.
3. Maruti Suzuki WagonR at third place
Maruti Suzuki’s budget family car WagonR was the third best selling hatchback car in January and was purchased by 15,118 customers. This figure shows a 37 per cent year-on-year decline in WagonR sales as 24,078 units were sold in January last year.
4. Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 at number four
Maruti Suzuki’s very cheap car Alto K10 sold 12,314 units in January last and this figure is with an annual growth of 8 percent. Alto K10 sold 11,352 units in January 2025.
5. Tata Tiago remains in top 5
Tata Motors’ most affordable car, Tiago, was the fifth best selling hatchback car in January and was purchased by 8,349 customers. In January last year, 6,807 units of Tiago were sold, which means there has been an annual growth of 23 percent in sales.
6. Hyundai Grand i10 Nios in sixth place
Hyundai Motor India’s most affordable car Grand i10 Nios was the sixth best selling hatchback car in January and was purchased by 7,710 customers. There has been an annual increase of 45 percent in the sales of this hatchback, as 5,311 units were sold in January last year.
7. Hyundai i20 at number seven
Hyundai Motor India’s premium hatchback i20 sold 5,677 units in January last and this figure is with an annual growth of 20 percent. In January last year, 4,741 units of i20 were sold.
8. Tata Altroz at number eight
Tata Motors’ premium hatchback Altroz sold 3,135 units in the month of January and this shows an annual growth of 54 percent. In January last year, 2,033 units of Altroz were sold.
9. Toyota Glanza at number nine
Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s premium hatchback Glanza was purchased by 2,978 customers in January and this figure is an annual decline of 14 percent. Glanza sold 3,455 units in January last year.
10. Maruti Suzuki Ignis at number ten
Ignis, the most affordable car sold in Maruti Suzuki’s Nexa showroom, was the 10th best selling hatchback car in January and was purchased by 1,902 customers. However, this figure is accompanied by a 50 per cent decline in Ignis sales as 3,780 units were sold in January 2025.
