Indian Racing Festival: Many events are organized in India to promote motorsports and racing culture and the Indian Racing Festival plays an important role in these. Now the fourth round of Indian Racing Festival (IRF) is to be held near Manohar International Airport in Goa on 14th and 15th February and before this, Sourav Ganguly, owner of IRF’s important team Kolkata Royal Tigers, has given his opinion on the growing craze of street racing in India.

Ganguly said special things

Sourav Ganguly, former captain of the Indian cricket team and who led Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL, believes that street racing brings out the real spirit of any team, which is more than just the speed or performance of the vehicle. He said that for me the Indian Racing Festival is the IPL of racing. It brings together top international talent, Indian drivers, team owners and fans in a format that is intense, competitive and highly accessible. Just as IPL changed the way people engage with cricket, the IRF is doing the same for motorsport.

Street circuit quite challenging

If Sourav Ganguly is to be believed, the challenge of the street circuit seems quite familiar. Street racing tests not just the car, but the team. Just as in cricket, a player’s patience is tested under pressure, similarly in street racing, there is no margin for error and any wrong move exposes the driver’s character. Sourav Ganguly believes that doing street racing from permanent racing track completely changes the thinking. On the permanent circuit you have a chance to recover. Whereas in street racing, every decision has its own importance and a small miscalculation can ruin an entire weekend’s hard work.
